Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation Scholar
Yesenia Aurora Mora is pursuing a master’s
degree in biology at CSU San Marcos. Her
primary research area centers on avian
behavioral ecology.
Aside from her rigorous research and
coursework commitments, Yesenia actively
contributes to the educational landscape by
helping teach science classes at CSUSM. She
hopes to inspire future generations to embrace
STEM disciplines and pursue college degrees in
these fields.
Yesenia recently presented her undergraduate
research at the American Ornithological
Society’s 2022 Ornithological Conference in
San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her efforts earned her
the esteemed Nellie Johnson Baroody Award,
given for the best student oral presentation.
Yesenia aspires to pursue a doctorate in
behavioral ecology.
