​​​Annie Rose Alward moved from state to state during her childhood before finally finding stability in the foster care system at the age of thirteen. Although she was separated from her family, she turned a very bleak situation into an enlightening and wonderful experience. Foster care became a stepping stone to a great education. In high school, she took advantage of many opportunities, including cheerleading, softball, and advanced placement classes.

​After being accepted to California State University Channel Islands and into the Educational Opportunity Program, Annie focused on a career in nursing while working as a certified nursing assistant and volunteer for local hospitals. She plans to complete a degree at CSU Channel Islands with a double major in nursing and biology with an emphasis in medical imaging. Annie hopes to give back to her community through volunteering and donating to various scholarship organizations.
