Dillon Herrick learned how to be independent from an early age. Since his mother worked a full-time job, part-time job, a gig job and took online classes, he was responsible for getting himself to school and work and remaining dedicated to sports. That ability to self-motivate has served him well.
Dillon joined the Marine Corp after high school, serving as team leader at Arlington National Cemetery. While serving, he completed the Leading Marines Program and Corporals Course Distance Education Program and was part of the firing party that performed 21-gun salutes during funerals.
Today, Dillon is a senior at CSU Monterey Bay, majoring in business administration with a concentration in accounting, and an intern at Dole Fresh Vegetables.
In addition, Dillon is a tutor at Hartnell College and is active in the Hartnell College Veterans Club, which distributed more than 50 Thanksgiving dinners to students. In 2021, he was elected vice president of the CSUMB Accounting Society while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
Dillon's future plans include combining his business degree and his passion for the Special Olympic community to open Adult Family Homes and provide a stable living environment for people with cognitive and physical disabilities.
