Trustee Emeritus Peter G. Mehas (In Memoriam) was a CSU Fresno alumnus whose years of service made him a trailblazer for education in the region. Dedicated to student readiness in math and English, Mehas started his career in teaching in his hometown of Fresno. Mehas was appointed to the CSU Board of Trustees in 2007, where he served for six years until his passing in 2013.

Mehas earned a bachelor's degree and several teaching and administrative credentials from Fresno State, a master's degree from UCLA, and his doctorate in education from the University of Southern California. He is survived by his wife, Demi, and their two daughters, Alethea and Andreanna.
