“Being able to travel abroad as a teaching credential student really opened my eyes to different cultures and innovative educational experiences. I am currently in the educational specialist credential program at Cal State Fullerton focusing on mild/moderate disabilities, so getting to see inclusive education in other countries as well as learning strategies that are best practices in education throughout the trip guided my perspectives on the way I want to teach in my own classroom. I am now just beginning my first semester of fieldwork and not only do I have 16 people whom I traveled with and reflected on all of our experiences together, but I have two professors I am very close to and could ask for support at any time! Because of this trip, I gained a huge support network and also increased my understanding of immigration issues around the world. I will take my new perspectives directly into my classroom, which will strengthen my teaching.”
