In the PIMS employment history database, separation transactions are defined as either temporary or permanent. When a separation transaction is processed, a separation code is computer generated on the employee’s database record. For temporary separations, the code is "T"; for permanent separations, the code is "S". The separation code is found on the position (PSN) screen and it assists in identifying the employee’s status for employment purposes, including whether or not the employee has mandatory reinstatement rights.
Temporary Separations (Separation Code = T)
Permanent Separations (Separation Code = S)
