Chancellor Highlights

​​Chancellor Mildred García is constantly on the move, attending speaking engagements, events and meetings that help elevate the profile of the CSU in California and across the ​​​nation​. Keep up with her busy schedule and check out some of the recent highlights​​.​

Chancellor García served as a plenary speaker at the 2024 AASCU Annual Conference for Presidents and Chancellors, held in Puerto Rico November 16-19, 2024.

“Building for Equity” was the theme of the CSU’s 2024 Graduation Initiative Symposium held in Los Angeles October 28-30, at which Chancellor García participated.

Chancellor García joined President Biden and others at the White House on October 29, 2024, for the ceremonial signing of an executive order that will strengthen the capacity of Hispanic-Serving Institutions to provide a high-quality education.

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, Chancellor García and HHS Assistant Secretary for Administration Cheryl R. Campbell signed an MOU on October 22, 2024, to collaborate on channeling students to work in federal health roles.

At the inaugural Chavez Huerta Leadership Conference hosted by CSU Bakersfield on October 3, 2024, Chancellor García was honored with a Trailblazer Award. García is the first Latina to lead any four-year university system in the nation.

“In New Delhi, India for the International Career & College Counseling (IC3) Conference August 28-29, 2024, Chancellor García met with U.S. Ambassador Erik Garcetti to discuss the CSU’s vision for internationalization.

Chancellor García attended the CSU’s biennial Juneteenth Symposium June 13-14, 2024, during which she highlighted the progress made to elevate Black student success and the work still to be done.

On April 30, 2024, Chancellor García met with Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh in Sacramento to discuss the CSU’s priorities and how each of the 23 universities can support the state’s workforce.
