Self-Support

These projects construct and operate new or renovated facilities that include parking structures, student housing, recreation centers, stadiums and other facilities that help meet educational goals.

Stage 1: Strategic Planning

As you embark on a Self-Support project, you’ll need to analyze the needs of the campus and the feasibility of your project. Answering these questions will ensure your project is funded.

Stage 2: Master Plan Revision/CEQA

This will provide a brief overview of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and Master Plan process and help you assess what steps you’ll need to take to support your project.

Stage 3: Programming

This Stage provides information about how your project gets included in the CSU Five-Year Plan and gives an overview of the associated processes and reporting requirements.

Stage 4: Design

In this stage, the design team processes information gathered in previous stages and creates tangible documents in distinct phases in order for a qualified builder to execute the work.

Stage 5: Construction

Now is the time to work with project teams to provide constructability reviews and studies for preconstruction and constructability. You will also manage the construction and closeout of the project.

Stage 6: Operations & Maintenance

In the final Stage of a Self-Support project, buildings are released for occupancy and regular maintenance begins and equipment inventory and maintenance schedules are loaded into management software for proper ongoing stewardship and tracking.
