It has been a rewarding journey watching students become confident, goal-achieving, knowledgeable people. I am proud to have had an impact in their lives.
As an academic advisor, Joanne Conley meets with every undergraduate student completing a degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies. She has created forms and processes to help students understand the choices available to them and established advising practices that others have adopted.
As the department’s internship coordinator, Ms. Conley meets with students individually to help them develop their résumés and cover letters. She has successfully placed hundreds of students in competitive internships, putting them on the path toward meaningful careers.
She also serves on graduate student thesis and project committees. Furthermore, her role as an advisor doesn’t end when students graduate. She often helps alumni seeking advice as they make job and career decisions or look into graduate school.
