Christopher Cox, lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Interdisciplinary Social Science, received the Outstanding Lecturer Award, which recognizes a lecturer for excellence in teaching effectiveness and service to the San Jose State campus community.

Cox demonstrates his commitment to public education through his work with SJSU’s MOSAIC Cross Cultural Center, the Educational Opportunity Program, the Cesar E. Chavez Community Action Center, Associated Students, the PRIDE Center, and external organizations such as the California Faculty Association and the Campaign for the Future of Higher Education. Recipient of the 2004 Graduate of the Last Decade award from the College of Social Sciences, his service learning course connects students to community agencies so they can contextualize examine cultural and social issues.
