We prepare CSUN’s marriage and family therapy students to improve the lives of thousands throughout Southern California. We cannot strive for anything less than maintaining the highest professional standards.

Having arrived at CSUN in 2004, Dr. Diane Gehart serves as the Program Curriculum Coordinator in the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Program. When the state licensing board released new standards in 2008, she was a leader in helping all 84 MFT programs incorporate new areas of knowledge to their curricula. This transition required a complete overhaul of CSUN’s curriculum, which she painstakingly aligned with numerous state and national standards, ultimately enabling the program to attain national accreditation by the Commission for Accreditation of Marriage and Family Therapy Education in 2016. Her groundbreaking textbook, Mastering Competencies in Family Therapy, is the first to bridge the gap between academic training and real-world clinical skills.
