Dr. Rebecca Weller began teaching Art History at CSU Bakersfield in 2003 and is most known for her “contagious enthusiasm” in the classroom.  Despite having taught for over twenty-five years, Dr. Weller maintains this passion for both Art History and for teaching by constantly reacquainting herself with the material.  Whether she is incorporating the latest research or introducing a new active learning exercise, her excitement is genuine because it feels new again.

In 2020, Dr. Weller became the Director of the Faculty Teaching & Learning Center at CSUB where she would redirect that pedagogical passion into assisting her colleagues with the rapid transition to distanced instruction.  After such a challenging year, Rebecca is thrilled to receive the Millie Ablin Excellence in Teaching Award.
