Raised in the small California farming community of McFarland and first in family to go to college.
Served as executive director of Girl Scouts-Joshua Tree Council for seven years, helping girls develop character and skills.
Appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the State Compensation Insurance Fund Board of Directors in 2007.
Active in the local community, including serving as chairwoman of the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce for 2011.
