Received the 62nd National Teacher of the Year award from the Council of Chief State School Officers.
Recognized by President Obama at a White House ceremony as the best among the nation's 3.2 million teachers.
Teaches seventh grade English at Luther Burbank Middle School.
Recipient of many teaching awards, including California Teacher of the Year, California League of Middle Schools Educator of the Year for Southern California, and PTA Honorary Service Award.
Remains active with CSU Northridge, participating on panels and providing career advice to aspiring teachers. Both her father and husband are also graduates of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
