  • Founded DayOne Response, Inc. in 2010 based on her water treatment for disaster relief research at Cal Poly and focused on addressing the global need for emergency portable water. Targeted clients include the U.S. Department of Defense, local emergency management agencies, and disaster relief organizations.
  • Co-invented the DayOne Waterbag technology with Cal Poly Professor Dr. Tryg Lundquist. The DayOne Waterbag provides all the essential functions of municipal water supply: water collections, transport, treatment and hygienic ​storage.
  • Recognized by President Clinton and awarded a Clinton Global Initiative Outstanding Commitment Grant.
  • Selected by the Department of Defense (United States Marine Corps Forces Pacific Experiment Center and the U.S. Navy) as one of 10 technologies to be tested for water-quality performance and user operation at the July 2010 Crimson Viper exercise, and was the technical lead for DayOne Response, Inc. during this exercise in Sattahip, Thailand.
  • Traveled to Haiti to conduct DayOne Waterbag training with support from two relief organizations. More than 200 Haitians participated. The testing showed that the pictographic instructions allowed untrained individuals to produce their own clean water.
  • During summer 2011, Compas-Markman attended the Unreasonable Institute Incubator in Boulder, Colo., as a 2011 Unreasonable Fellow, and was selected by the Junior Chamber International Osaka as a candidate to participate in the 2011 TOYP (The Outstanding Young Persona) Program in Japan.
