Currently works at a Virgin Galatic pilot.
Recently commanded the Space Shuttle Atlantis on an August 29, 2009 mission to the International Space Station.
As a Marine pilot, he flew 41 combat missions during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
Credits one of his Cal Poly professors for encouraging him to become a Marine pilot rather than a race car mechanic.
