The California State University Community Partnership Initiative (CPI) supports community- based organizations (CBOs) that establish, extend and/or strengthen collaborative partnerships between California State University (CSU) campuses and the communities they serve. The CPI grant seeks to enhance and encourage CBO’s efforts in underrepresented communities that utilize collaborative relationships with CSU campuses to address critical needs in the following areas:
- Academic Preparation
- A-G Requirements
- College Access
- Enrollment
Eligibility
All eligible applicants, projects or programs must:
- Be based in the state of California
- Benefit students and families grade levels K-12
- Have at minimum one CSU-campus partner, indicated by a signed MOU or letter from CSU Campus Entity.
- Demonstrate 3 or more years of work in the area(s) of academic preparation,
- A-G requirements, college access, or enrollment support.
- Be tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organizations.
- Program required to have General Liability, Sexual Abuse, and Molestation insurance coverage.
- Confirm program staff and volunteers will have received Mandated Youth Protection training.
- Provide an in-kind or fiscal matching contribution equal to 50% of the total award.

Improving college readiness requires effective partnerships with community organizations and faith-based allies. The Office of the Chancellor are not accepting submissions for the year of 2025. The Community Partnership Initiative continues to administer and support its current partners.
