Hunger-Free Campus Designation

Senate Bill 85 dispersed "Hunger-Free Campus Designation" funding to each CSU campus in amounts based on their submitted proposals for work focused on addressing students' basic needs, particularly food insecurity and housing displacement. This funding supports the CSU's efforts to develop, enhance and integrate basic needs resources into the institutional fabric of campus culture. In doing so, students will have access to the tools necessary to persist in their education and earn a degree.

Goals for the funding are to:

  • Address student hunger
  • Leverage more sustainable solutions to address basic needs on campus
  • Raise awareness of services currently offered on campus that address basic needs
  • Develop formal practices and procedures
  • Continue to build strategic partnerships with community/statewide partners and CSU campuses
