I enjoy working with students on their introductory biology course because I can help them find their passion in the field of biology.

2021

Firozeh Farahmand thought she had found her calling early on. She'd actively volunteered in various hospitals throughout high school and into her sophomore year of college. As she pursued pre-med, she found herself struggling to find motivation, which began to take its toll on her coursework.

After participating in on-campus research at Cal Poly Pomona, Firozeh found her passion and changed career paths. She is now pursuing a master's degree in biological sciences while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

As an undergraduate student at CPP, Firozeh joined several campus organizations, including Alpha Xi Delta and the Biotechnology Club. She also served as president of Greek Council and competed in track and field. She currently works as a teaching associate in the Foundations of Biology: Energy, Matter, and Information Laboratory.

Firozeh plans to continue in academia and become a professor who will teach and mentor the next generation of students pursuing careers in biological sciences.
