CSUs Dominates Social Mobility Index

​CSUs landed 13 of the top 15 spots of the California Mobility Index, the College Futures Foundation announced. The index focused on low- and moderate-income students. When it comes to boosting students’ socioeconomic trajectory, “the CSU is unmatched,” Chancellor Mildred García said. Read more.

CSUs Get New Carnegie Designations

​More than half of CSUs have received a new Carnegie designation known as “Research Colleges and Universities.”​ The announcement by the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching now recognizes 21 of 23 CSUs in this classification framework. Chancellor Receives Leadership Award

Chancellor Mildred García has received the 2025 TIAA Institute Hesburgh Award for Leadership Excellence in Higher Education. She is honored for her role in making the CSU known for its affordability and for promoting social mobility, the head of the TIAA Institute said. Read the news release.​

Climate Adaptation Consortium Created

​CSU faculty, staff and students from across its 23 universities will work together to advance climate literacy and research in a newly launched CSU Consortium on Climate Adaptation. Landmark AI Initiative

​The CSU is collaborating with tech companies and the governor’s office to create the nation’s first and largest AI-empowered university system. The initiative will elevate students’​​ education experience, enrich faculty teaching and research and help provide the workforce to drive California’​s future AI-driven economy, the chancellor said.
