COAST Graduate Student Engagement Award

Description
This award recognizes the significant accomplishments of a CSU graduate student in research, teaching, and/or community engagement focused on ocean or coastal issues using inclusive practices during their graduate career at a CSU. The awardee will have worked for greater diversity, equity, inclusion, and/or justice in ocean and coastal science, management, education, and/or stewardship. To be eligible for nomination, students must still be enrolled as a graduate student at a CSU campus through December 2024.

CSU COAST-affiliated faculty members can submit nominations. Applications will be reviewed by the COAST Executive Committee, and recipients will be invited to attend the COAST Annual Meeting on October 11, 2024, to receive the award. The awardee's travel expenses will be covered by COAST.

Nomination Deadline: Wednesday, August 28, 2024, 5:00 pm PDT
Award Notification: by Tuesday, September 10, 2024, 5:00 pm PDT
COAST Annual Meeting: Friday, October 11, 2024


Nomination Procedures
CSU COAST-affiliated faculty members can submit nominations for graduate students. Only one nominee per nominator please.

  1. Complete the Nomination Form​​.
  2. Provide a letter that describes the major highlights of the nominee's qualifications and experiences.
  3. Provide the nominee’s full CV.
The letter should not exceed two pages, but the CV has no page limit.

Combine the items listed above in order into a single pdf named NomineeLastName_NominatorLastName.pdf and send via email to [email protected] by the deadline.

Within one hour of nomination submission, you will receive a confirmation email from COAST with a submission ID number. Please save this email for future reference. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact COAST ([email protected]) immediately to ensure your nomination was received. This is your responsibility; COAST is not responsible for nominations that were not successfully submitted if nominators cannot provide a copy of the email confirming successful submission.​​
