This numeric code identifies alternate ranges of salaries within a class, when the class has more than one range. Refer to the CSU Salary Schedule for alternate range codes.

When an employee is changing from an alternate range class to an assigned salary rate class or to a class with no alternate ranges, existing entries in this field must be deleted with an asterisk (*).

Range codes 6 and 7 for nonacademic classes are reserved for 11/12 pay plan ranges.

Range codes 8 and 9 for nonacademic classes are reserved for 10/12 pay plan ranges.

Range code 0 is referred to as a 'title' or 'header' record. If a class has alternate ranges, no method of compensation is associated with the header.
