Dormant accounts to the SCO mainframe computer and CIRS are closely monitored because they are considered a potential security vulnerability. Therefore, each quarter we identify users who have not logged onto the mainframe or used a CIRS function and send them a warning message (after 3 months of non-use) or a deletion notice (after 6 months of non-use). Below are frequently asked questions concerning those notices.
Question: | I logon every month. Isn't that enough to remain active? |
Answer: | No. Logging on each month only keeps your password current. To be considered active, you must perform a function in CIRS at least once every 3 months. |

Question: | What CIRS functions keep my account active? |
Answer: | The following functions are tracked as system usage: Executing report requests, creating extract files, updating data for online applications, transferring files, and any compendium report function (browse, edit, print, download). |
| |
Question: | I tried to logon and got the message "RACF VIOLATION USERID REVOKED". Does that mean I no longer have access to CIRS? |
Answer: | This does not necessarily mean you no longer have CIRS access. Your logon access is automatically revoked if your password expired. However, your CIRS account may still be active. Contact the SCO's Information Security Office to reset your password. |

Question: | Is a warning notice sent before a CIRS account is deleted for non-use? |
Answer: | After 3 months of non-use, your CIRS Security Coordinator is notified that your account is in danger of being deleted. That is the only warning sent. After 6 months of consecutive non-use, your CIRS account, personal library and all related files are automatically deleted. |

|
Question: | My CIRS account was deleted for non-use. Can I still access my personal library? |
Answer: | A temporary copy of your personal library is retained for 60 days if it has more than 3 members. |
|
|
Question: | My CIRS account was deleted for non-use. How can I restore my access? |
Answer: | Your CIRS Security Coordinator must submit a CIRS001 and PSD108 to re-establish a CIRS account. Access typically takes 2 weeks from the time our office receives the request.
