The edit (E) command is used to customize a compendium report before it is printed or downloaded by adding, deleting or even changing data and report headings. Always use discretion when editing as changes could misrepresent data at the campus or systemwide level.
- When you create a customized report, you are editing a copy of a report, not the original.
- You can customize as many reports as needed, but you can only have one version of a compendium report for a given cycle.
- The copy is retained under your userid and cannot be accessed by other users at your campus.
- After your copy of the report is saved, the report cycle will indicate it is a customized version.
- Customized reports should only be kept for as long as you feel the information is of value. Specifying a longer retention period than is needed results in unnecessary CIRS overhead and cost.
- To edit an original or customized report, type an E to the left of the desired report cycle and press enter. For example:
CODE: A22 LEVEL: SYSTEMWIDE SUMMARY
TITLE: EMPLOYEE TOTALS BY CBID CLASS AND CAMPUS
CATEGORY: EMPLOYEE SUMMARIES

After selecting a report cycle for editing, you will be prompted for the retention period of the report resulting from the current edit. By default, a retention period of 1 day is entered. Type the number of days (1- 999) the report is needed and press enter. For example:
----------- -Edit Compendium -----------

HOW MANY DAYS DO YOU WISH TO KEEP THIS
CUSTOM REPORT: 001

ENTER TO EDIT - PF3 TO CANCEL
----------------------------------------
The system will respond with a message indicating the expiration date of your customized report. Press enter to clear the message.

To control how the edited report will print, insert or delete carriage control characters located in the first column of data: '1' indicates a page break, '0' indicates a blank line and '-' indicates a double space.
